Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Numgrove collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Numgrove is operated by CraftOfTech LLC ("we", "us"). Effective 28 September 2026.
What we collect
Depending on how you play, we collect:
- Account details from your sign-in method: your email address or phone number, an account identifier and, for Google or Facebook sign-in, your name and profile picture.
- Profile details you add: your name, display name, photo, country and age range.
- Gameplay: the puzzles you play, every move and when you made it, times, scores, results, streaks and leaderboard positions.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, approximate location derived from IP, error logs and similar information sent automatically when you use the game.
- Fair-play records: signals we collect to detect cheating, such as differences between the times or moves your device reports and what our servers measure.
- Reports and messages you send us, including reports about other players' photos and privacy requests.
- Ratings and feedback you send in the game, including any testimonial you choose to share publicly.
- Data kept in your browser, such as progress and settings, which you can clear by signing out or clearing site data.
- How you found us: when you first visit, your browser keeps the invite or campaign link you came from (and which share message and screen it was), advertising click ids and campaign tags, and only the name of the referring website. If you create an account, we record this once to learn which channels and messages work; the person who shared an invite link sees how many friends joined, never who.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- run the game, save your progress, keep your streak and show leaderboards;
- detect and prevent cheating, fraud, abuse and security problems;
- understand how the game is used and improve it (analytics);
- show advertising, including personalised advertising, and otherwise monetise the game;
- contact you about your account, requests or changes to these terms; and
- comply with law and protect our rights and the rights of others.
What other players see
Your display name (or, if you have none, your name), photo, country flag, times, moves, scores and ranks are shown to other signed-in players on leaderboards. Your age range, email address and phone number are never shown.
Testimonials are public only when you tick the sharing box and our team approves them. They may include your display name, country flag and in-game badges. Feedback from players in the under-13 and 13-17 age ranges is never shown publicly.
Cookies and usage analytics
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to count visits and learn how the game is played: for example which screens you open, when you start and finish a puzzle, your browser and device type, and roughly which country a visit comes from. We do not use it for advertising and we do not record your screen.
The first time you visit we ask whether we may count your visits with anonymous usage stats. Nothing is sent before you choose. If you agree, PostHog stores a random identifier in your browser so a returning visit counts once and, if you are signed in, links it to your account identifier (never your email address or phone number). If you decline, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is stored in your browser for analytics and visits are only counted in aggregate. Players in the under-13 age range are never tracked.
You can change your choice at any time under "Your privacy choices" at the bottom of this page.
The game's fonts and drawing engine are served from our own servers, not from Google Fonts or other third-party font services, and we do not record your screen or keystrokes.
Sharing and selling
We may share personal information with:
- service providers who run the game for us, such as cloud hosting, databases, sign-in and storage (for example Google Cloud and Firebase);
- error-monitoring providers that receive crash reports and technical data (for example Sentry);
- analytics and measurement partners (for example PostHog, only as described under "Cookies and usage analytics");
- advertising partners and networks, including to show and measure ads; and
- other third parties, for money or other value, for their advertising, analytics or other business purposes.
Under some laws, sharing personal information with third parties for their own purposes, or for targeted advertising, counts as a "sale" or "sharing". We may sell or share personal information in this way. You can ask us not to (see "Your choices" below).
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect rights and safety, and to a buyer or successor if our business or assets are sold, merged or transferred.
Children and young players
Accounts are for players 13 and older. We ask your age before you create an account, and we do not create accounts for children under 13. Children can play every puzzle as guests: we do not ask them for personal information, and usage analytics stay off on a device where someone said they are under 13.
We do not sell or share, for advertising, the personal information of players who tell us they are under 18, and we do not show public photos for younger players. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile at any time and sign out to erase progress from your browser. You can delete your account and its data yourself in the game: tap your avatar on the home screen, then "Delete account" (see numgrove.com/delete-account). You can also ask us to:
- delete your data;
- not sell or share your personal information;
- send you a copy of your data; or
- correct your data.
Use the request form at the bottom of this page and give the email address or phone number you play with, or email legal@numgrove.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it, and we aim to respond within 30 days (or any shorter time the law requires). Some data may be kept where the law requires it or to prevent fraud and cheating. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including to complain to a data protection authority.
How long we keep data
We keep personal information while your account is active and for as long as needed for the purposes above, including resolving disputes, fair-play enforcement and legal obligations. Past leaderboard results may be kept in anonymised or aggregate form.
Security and international transfers
We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries whose data laws may differ from yours.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the game. Questions: legal@numgrove.com.
